Soccer Game Preview: Dixie vs. Strom Thurmond

The Dixie Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Strom Thurmond Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dixie is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Dixie proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by four) and last Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let GREEN Upstate get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Dixie were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Strom Thurmond hadn't done well against Saluda recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Rebels who were credited with the win. Strom Thurmond got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Saluda's three. Anderson Escalante had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Strom Thurmond.

Strom Thurmond pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dixie, their record is now 14-8.

Dixie might still be hurting after the 9-5 loss they got from Strom Thurmond in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
