Football Recap: Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] Comes Up Short

Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Charlotte Latin Hawks, falling 38-17. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 35-14 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Lucas Lopez threw for 191 yards and one TD. Marcus Sales was his top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Seth Henry rushed for 66 yards.

De'Jon Douglas had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 133 yards and three scores for Charlotte Latin. Douglas is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 116 every time he's taken the field this season. Charlotte Latin also got help from Dylan Muligan, who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.

Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy]'s loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Charlotte Latin, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Cannon [Cannon/Concord Academy] will take on Metrolina Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Cougars' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Charlotte Latin, they will challenge Providence Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Chargers have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
