The Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots will square off against the Kenston Forest Kavaliers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Brunswick Academy, who was ranked second at the time (Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association was ranked seventh). Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association lost 10-2 to Brunswick Academy on Saturday. The Patriots have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Madison Machotka was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Danielle Stowell, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Kenston Forest waltzed into their match on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Kavaliers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Thomas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kenston Forest let Addie McDaniel (2025) and Hayden Hudson (2029) run wild. McDaniel (2025) went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs, while Hudson (2029) scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ruth Anne Torres (2026) was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI.
Kenston Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive games.
Kenston Forest's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Kenston Forest struggles in that department as they've averaged .426. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
