Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Christian Eagles vs. Triton Central Tigers

The Heritage Christian Eagles will face off against the Triton Central Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Heritage Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They snuck past Park Tudor with a 59-53 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Heritage Christian relied on the efforts of Isaac Arterburn, who went 5-for-9 en route to 18 points and five rebounds, and Logan Peters, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 14 points and seven boards. Arterburn's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Lyon, who posted four points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Triton Central posted their closest win since February 1, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 46-44 victory over Speedway. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Sparkplugs are ranked 385th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Heritage Christian pushed their record up to 8-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games. As for Triton Central, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Things could have been worse for Heritage Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-40 loss to Triton Central in their previous meeting back in January. Can Heritage Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
