Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is West Shamokin's 11th in Last 12 Outings

West Shamokin won the last time they faced Homer-Center and things went their way on Friday too. The West Shamokin Wolves strolled past the Homer-Center Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 67-48. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Wildcats are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Shamokin was led to victory by Jacob Allen and Alex Talmadge. Allen went 14 of 27 en route to 30 points and eight boards, while Talmadge went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points along with seven assists and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Allen has scored at least a third of West Shamokin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Johns, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Homer-Center lost, don't look at Angelo Alexander. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Alexander a new career-high in rebounds. Max Voyda also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

West Shamokin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.9 points per game. As for Homer-Center, their record is now 11-7.

West Shamokin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 77-58 win against Marion Center on the 27th. Homer-Center has also already played their next contest, a 56-29 victory against Cambria Heights on the 27th.
