Recap: Wellsville-Middletown Tigers vs. Liberty Christian Academy Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to the Wellsville-Middletown Tigers, who are still winless after their sixth match. They fell 62-52 to Liberty Christian Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Wellsville-Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while Liberty Christian Academy is ranked 111th).
Liberty Christian Academy was led to victory by Willy Mueller and Jack Duvel. Mueller dropped a double-double on 17 points and 26 rebounds, while Duvel scored 20 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Duvel has scored at least 25% of Liberty Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Brody Kuehn, who scored 11 points.
Wellsville-Middletown's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Wellsville-Middletown will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Westran on January 2, 2024. Liberty Christian Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. St. Vincent is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
