DeMatha has gone a perfect 10-0 against Our Lady of Good Counsel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. DeMatha is taking a road trip to take on Our Lady of Good Counsel at 4:30 p.m. The last four games DeMatha has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
DeMatha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Bishop O'Connell, who was ranked 25th in their home state at the time (DeMatha was ranked fifth). DeMatha had just enough and edged out Bishop O'Connell 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Stags have posted against the Knights since April 27, 2019.
Gabriel Chapman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayden Dennis, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Our Lady of Good Counsel unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Worthington Kilbourne by a score of 4-2. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Our Lady of Good Counsel saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
DeMatha has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Our Lady of Good Counsel's loss dropped their record down to 9-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. DeMatha hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Our Lady of Good Counsel struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
DeMatha beat Our Lady of Good Counsel 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for DeMatha since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
