Columbia dropped down to 7-13 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 23-0 to the Seton Catholic Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-2 defeat back in April.
As for Seton Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Seton Catholic's part, Ben Ratigan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Ratigan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Teddy Wieczorek was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Dalton Woods was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs and three RBI.
