Aaron Gordon of Archbishop Mitty tops All-State basketball teams.
Aaron Gordon of Archbishop Mitty continues to rake in the awards, as he has been selected as the MaxPreps California Boys Basketball Player of the Year.
So far in the postseason, Gordon has been named the top player in the San Jose area by the San Jose Mercury News, the top player in the San Francisco Bay Area by the San Francisco Chronicle and a first team All-American by MaxPreps.
Gordon, also named the Division II state POY, edges out Mater Dei's Stanley Johnson, the Division I POY, for top honors.
Other divisional MVPs include Isaac Hamilton of St. John Bosco in Division III, Jabari Bird of Salesian in Division IV and Mamadou Ndiaye of Brethren Christian in Division V.
John DePonte of Pleasant Grove, who led his team to a Division I state championship, is the state Coach of the Year. Pleasant Grove was the only NorCal team to win a state championship.
The MaxPreps All-State teams include a five-member first and second team for each division, as well as an overall five-member first, second and third team with 15 honorable mention selections.
