Baseball Recap: Lincoln Takes a Loss

Lincoln had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-11 to make it seven. They lost 6-0 to the Pilgrim Patriots. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Pilgrim, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 11, 2024 (when they won 14-0).

For Pilgrim's part, the result came thanks to Nolan Canestrari's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. Canestrari also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Patriots are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Pilgrim's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Samuel Shelton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Jackson Monte, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will face off against La Salle Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pilgrim, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-2 win against Cranston East on the 14th.
