Football Game Preview: Gary West Side Cougars vs. Griffith Panthers

The Gary West Side Cougars will head out to face off against the Griffith Panthers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Gary West Side has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Griffith will arrive with three straight wins.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gary West Side duked it out with Wheeler on Friday. The Cougars took a hard 42-26 fall against the Bearcats.

Despite their defeat, Gary West Side saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Marcell Dixon, who threw for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of TDs on the ground, was perhaps the best of all.

Gary West Side didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aizayah Sanders.

Meanwhile, Griffith was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past East Chicago Central 44-8. Considering the Panthers have won five games by more than 35 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Griffith's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Gary West Side, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Gary West Side was taken down by Griffith 42-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Panthers' Ryan Bullion, who threw for 230 yards and four TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes.
