Basketball Recap: Pathway Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Maggie Shetler and Lorena Helmuth

Pathway Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 51-33 to the Galesburg Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-31 back in November of 2024.

Pathway Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lorena Helmuth, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds, and Maggie Shetler, who posted three points and ten rebounds.

Galesburg Christian found their leader in freshman Maggie Mason, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Mason has scored at least a third of Galesburg Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Pathway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Galesburg Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Pathway Christian will venture away from home to take on Quad Cities Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Galesburg Christian, they will welcome Unity Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
