Baseball Recap: Exeter's Undefeated Season over After 11 Games

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Exeter finally came back down to earth on Monday. They lost 8-1 to the Londonderry Lancers. The contest marked the Blue Hawks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Exeter saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Schimoler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Schimoler has hit this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Exeter fell to 10-1. As for Londonderry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Exeter is set to square off against their familiar foe Merrimack at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Blue Hawks' favor as the team sits on 16 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Tomahawks have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Londonderry will face off against rival Dover at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lancers 2.1, the Green Wave 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
