Softball Recap: Saint Mary's Wins Going Away Against St. Patrick-St. Vincent

Saint Mary won the last time they faced St. Patrick-St. Vincent and things went their way on Thursday too. The Panthers put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 12-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Isabelle Koehn made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Saint Mary's got a massive performance out of Aoife Shen, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave Shen a new career-high. Abigail Ambrose was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

Saint Mary's always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Saint Mary's record now sits at 3-6. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they dropped their record down to 0-11 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Saint Mary's will challenge De Anza at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Dons at the right time seeing as the Dons are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they will square off against Bethel at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Jaguars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.69 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
