Basketball Recap: Southampton Comes Up Short

If Southampton was riding high fresh off their 47-22 takedown of Surry County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Southampton Indians were outmatched by the Ridgecroft Rams and fell 56-16. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-2.

Southampton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Ridgecroft, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southampton and Franklin will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Ridgecroft, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
