League recap: Cathedral Prep lifted by Kondrlik's performance at the plate

District 10 Region 9 league recap: 5/7/12

Kody Kondrlik was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .632 average, two home runs and 12 RBIs. His Cathedral Prep team went 3-0.

On May 9, 2012, the top two teams in the current league standings will go head to head, as McDowell and the Ramblers meet. The Trojans currently hold a 0.50-game lead over Cathedral Prep for first place.

McDowell's pitching staff dominated this week, allowing only six hits and six walks, both of which led the league. On the season, the Trojans have allowed just 56 hits, while striking out 80 batters. Ryan Platz leads the Trojans with 21 strikeouts in 12 innings.

The Ramblers racked up a league-leading 60 hits this week, bringing their total to 152 on the year, also tops in the league. Eli Flynn has a team-high 24 hits on the season for second-place Cathedral Prep, which went 3-0 this week.

The Ramblers's Kondrlik finished his week with 12 hits, tops in the league. His 22 hits for the year are second in the league, and he boasts a .512 batting average.
