Cumberland's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.6 points per game. As for Cerro Gordo/Bement, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-8.

Cerro Gordo/Bement didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Cumberland in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-35 win.
