Baseball Recap: University Charter Sets Scoring Season-High Against Holy Spirit Catholic

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask University Charter). They put the hurt on the Holy Spirit Catholic Saints with a sharp 15-7 victory on Thursday. The Trail Blazers have beaten the Saints the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Saints has come to flipping the script.

Braden Murray and Tip Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Murray tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Smith pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Murray scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Smith scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those two runs gave Smith a new career-high.

In other batting news, Josiah Dubose was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Landon McClure was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

University Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .574. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

University Charter's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Holy Spirit Catholic, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
