Softball Recap: Six Straight Road Wins for Lafayette

Lafayette hadn't done well against Corinth recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lafayette blew past Corinth 14-4. The Commodores might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by ten runs or more this season.

Jenny Dreher made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last six contests. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Lafayette got a massive performance out of Mary Madison Kelley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Kelley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Woolfolk, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Corinth only posted an OBP of .323.

Lafayette's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Corinth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Lafayette will have a chance to go back-to-back against Corinth: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
