            Baseball Recap: Mercer County Golden Eagles vs. Rockridge Rockets        
        
		
        
        
            After soaring to 14  runs the game before, Mercer County was a bit more limited  in their  game  on Thursday. They fell  5-2 to the Rockridge Rockets. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won  8-7.

Mercer County got a good showing from  Nathan Matlick, who   tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Matlick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Mercer County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Jacob Kenney, who  got on base  in all four of his plate appearances with one  double. Another  was  Tannen Whitehall, who  got on base  in two of his four plate appearances with three  stolen bases and one  run.
Mercer County's  loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-7. As for Rockridge, their  win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-8.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer County will venture away from home to  square off against Hall  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. As for Rockridge, they will face off against Monmouth-Roseville at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday.
