Basketball Game Preview: Oglethorpe County Patriots vs. Athens Academy Spartans

Oglethorpe County and Athens Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The Oglethorpe County Patriots will head out to challenge the Athens Academy Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Oglethorpe County has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Athens Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

Two weeks ago, Oglethorpe County came up short against Hart County and fell 62-51. That's two games in a row now that the Patriots have lost by exactly 11 points.

Meanwhile, Athens Academy made easy work of Stephens County on Friday and carried off a 58-37 victory. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Oglethorpe County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Athens Academy, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.
