Basketball Recap: Fort Morgan Falls to Wellington in First Game of Season + How To Watch

Fort Morgan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 45-30 bruising from the Wellington Eagles on Monday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Wellington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brookelyn Jones, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 17 points and seven blocks. Jones has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Essay, who went 8-for-12 en route to 17 points.

Looking ahead, Fort Morgan is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Wiggins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wellington, they have already played their next contest, a 59-10 victory against The Pinnacle on the 3rd.
