Basketball Recap: McKinley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Champion last Friday, McKinley came back down to earth. The McKinley Red Dragons fell 62-53 to the Jefferson Area Falcons on Tuesday. The Red Dragons have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Loss or not, McKinley got some senior leadership from Avon Fryer and True Carey-Hardin. Fryer went 8 for 13 on his way to 22 points, while Carey-Hardin posted 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Fryer a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Doyle, who earned six points.

Having lost for the first time this season, McKinley fell to 2-1. As for Jefferson Area, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

McKinley will challenge Lakeview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jefferson Area, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 54-22 victory against Conneaut on the 11th.
