Baseball Game Preview: Orcutt Academy Spartans vs. Santa Ynez Pirates

Orcutt Academy hasn't had much luck against Santa Ynez recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Spartans will welcome the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Orcutt Academy fell victim to Santa Maria and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Saints, falling 13-0. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Santa Ynez and Nipomo meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Pirates lost 9-1 to the Titans.

Santa Ynez saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Aquistapace, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Orcutt Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Santa Ynez, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
