Softball Recap: Hardin County Victorious

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Hardin County brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They skirted past the Gallatin County Hawks 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since March 27th.

Reagan Banks and Macey Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Banks went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Martin went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Martin a new career-high. Isabella Rose was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Hardin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hardin County moved to 5-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Gallatin County, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Hardin County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 5-1 defeat against Norris City-Omaha-Enfield on the 9th. As for Gallatin County, they will venture away from home to challenge Crab Orchard at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
