South Point is 2-8 against Crest since May of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Red Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. South Point knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Crest likes a good challenge.
Last Wednesday, South Point made easy work of Bessemer City and carried off a 16-1 win. The Red Raiders haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Stella Absher was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Madison Bridges was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Cailey Evans was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
South Point was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after a string of 11 wins, Crest's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against South Caldwell, falling 16-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Chargers were not able to get on the board.
South Point pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Crest, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .411. However, it's not like Crest struggles in that department as they've averaged .334. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South Point might still be hurting after the 8-0 loss they got from Crest in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
