League recap: Skyline tops Appleton City to extend winning streak

Mid-Lakes recap Sept. 26, 2012

Skyline extended the longest winning streak in Mid-Lakes this week by beating Appleton City, 59-22. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Tigers.

Strafford took down Pleasant Hope 59-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jacob Wade threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 10 yards in the win.

Dallas Hester was the best wideout in the league this week as the Indians bested the Pirates. Hester tallied three receptions for 123 yards. Brady Collier helped Strafford's passing attack out by catching five balls for 59 yards.

Logan Allred was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 24 carries as Ash Grove topped Pleasant Hope. Teammate Austin Hurst added to the ground attack by rushing for 110 yards.

Kory Noe made the biggest impact on defense this week as Tim Hester's team beat Scott Reeves's team. The 5-foot-11 defensive lineman recorded one fumble and racked up 1.5 sacks.

The Indians' Wade and Hester have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Mid-Lakes in both passing and receiving yards. Wade has thrown for 771 yards this season, while Hester, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 13 catches for 264 yards. Skyline's Logan Bryan leads the league in rushing yards with 593.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brandon Shelby's team takes on the Pirates. The Tigers are currently in second, while Ash Grove is in third.

Strafford led the league in scoring this week after putting up 59 points on the Pirates. Wade in the win.
