Recap: Steward Spartans vs. Hampton Roads Academy Navigators
The Steward Spartans can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hampton Roads Academy as Steward made off with a 55-30 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Steward has posted against Hampton Roads Academy since February 20, 2018.
Steward found their leader in underclassman Sanai Green, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Green hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Johnson, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Several Navigators players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenzie Cooper, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Cooper has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Abby Fiala was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Steward and bumps their season record up to 5-7. As for Hampton Roads Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steward will take on Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 406 points over their last five matches. As for Hampton Roads Academy, they will be playing at home against Summit Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
