Softball Game Preview: Belle Plaine Plainsmen vs. North Mahaska Warhawks

The Belle Plaine Plainsmen will square off against the North Mahaska Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Belle Plaine comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Belle Plaine came up short against Colfax-Mingo on Monday, falling 12-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Plainsmen have suffered against the Tigerhawks since June 7, 2017.

Meanwhile, North Mahaska hadn't done well against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rockets 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warhawks.

North Mahaska's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Belle Plaine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Belle Plaine skirted past North Mahaska 9-8 in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Will the Plainsmen repeat their success, or do the Warhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
