Baseball Recap: West Iredell Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Lincoln, West Iredell was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the St. Stephens Indians. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 10-3 win the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Talen Caton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Iredell is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Austin Arrowood and Xavierous Glaspy did most of the damage at the plate: Arrowood went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double, while Glaspy went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Glaspy has posted since back in February.

West Iredell's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for St. Stephens, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Coming up, St. Stephens will square off against East Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Iredell will be paying especially close attention to the Indians' match: after the Indians face off against the Mustangs, they'll take on West Iredell again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
