Volleyball Recap: Frostproof Bulldogs vs. Avon Park Red Devils

Frostproof had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Avon Park Red Devils by a score of 3-2. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Frostproof wouldn't go down easily and took Avon Park into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-27, 25-22, 25-16, 13-25, 15-9.

Laney Cash paced Frostproof's offense, picking up 17 kills. Cash got some help from Hannah Windham and her 24 assists. Jennah Harrel controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Avon Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lilianna Barbour, who had 23 assists and 13 digs. Another player making a difference was Jaymarie Rivera, who had 24 digs and five assists.

Avon Park's record now sits at 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frostproof will venture away from home to face off against Mulberry at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Avon Park, they will head out to challenge Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
