Football Recap: Athens Drive Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Athens Drive extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They lost 28-6 to the Cary Imps. The Jaguars were down 21-0 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

As for Cary, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 16 points this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cary to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tony Stephens, who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. Those 118 rushing yards gave Stephens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Grena, who rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown.

Looking ahead, Athens Drive will head out on the road to challenge Green Hope at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cary, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Willow Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
