Football Recap: Athens Drive Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Athens Drive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 28-6 to the Cary Imps. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Imps apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Tyrese Madry threw for 26 yards and one touchdown. TreShawn Barlow was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards and one TD.

Cary's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tony Stephens, who rushed for 118 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. The dominant performance also gave Stephens a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Nick Grena, who rushed for 66 yards and one TD.

Athens Drive's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Cary, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Athens Drive has already played their next match, a 31-28 loss against Green Hope on the 5th. As for Cary, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-24 victory against Willow Spring on the 5th.
