Basketball Recap: Irondequoit Takes a Loss

After flying high against Victor last Saturday, Irondequoit came back down to earth. The Irondequoit Eagles lost 77-55 to the Penfield Patriots on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Patriots are ranked 37th).

Irondequoit has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points over those games. Penfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Irondequoit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Penfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Webster Thomas on Saturday. Penfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 22 games -- so hopefully Webster Thomas likes a good challenge.
