Basketball Game Preview: Walnut Wildcats vs. Alcorn Central Bears

The Walnut Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Alcorn Central Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

It was a proper cat-fight when Walnut faced off against Nettleton on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost 93-73 to the Tigers.

Walnut might have lost, but man, Logan Wilbanks was a machine: he shot 50% from the field to rack up 30 points. Wilbanks' afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Cardwell, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Meanwhile, Alcorn Central lost to Wayne County on the road by a 70-52 margin on Saturday.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Alcorn Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Walnut came up short against Alcorn Central when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 51-44. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
