Preview: Woodlawn Warriors vs. Kenwood Bluebirds

Woodlawn is 6-0 against Kenwood since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Woodlawn Warriors' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Kenwood Bluebirds at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.

Woodlawn suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Hereford by a score of 36-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Woodlawn has scored all season.

Meanwhile, Kenwood waltzed into their game on Wednesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top against Dundalk by a score of 65-55. 65 seems to be a good number for Kenwood as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Kenwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Andrew Otuyelu out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Otuyelu has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Mbuyi, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Woodlawn has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Kenwood, they pushed their record up to 6-8 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Woodlawn came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, sneaking past 58-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodlawn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
