Basketball Recap: McDonough Comes Up Short

McDonough was the 55-48 winner over Chopticon when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The McDonough Rams fell just short of the Chopticon Braves by a score of 61-58 on Wednesday.

Leading Chopticon to victory were Bryson Fenwick and Brian McMahon. Fenwick dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards, while McMahon went 7 for 11 en route to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Fenwick is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Jacob Waddell was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

McDonough's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Chopticon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.

The future could be bright for both McDonough and Chopticon: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. McDonough will try to hand Patuxent their ninth-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Chopticon will look to extend Thomas Stone's three-game losing streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
