Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Unity Christian Academy had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it 12. They were dealt a 73-42 defeat at the hands of Gramercy Christian. Unity Christian Academy was not able to make up for their loss to Gramercy Christian from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Unity Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Paul, who posted 11 points. Trey Whitehurst was another key player, putting up ten points.

As for Gramercy Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 16th (when they won 53-10).

Sam Long was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 19 boards. Those 19 rebounds gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Bowling, who shot 60% from the field en route to 13 points and five boards.

Unity Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-41 loss against Pungo Christian Academy on the 18th. As for Gramercy Christian, they have also already played their next matchup, a 53-48 defeat against Greenville Christian Academy on the 18th.
