Softball Recap: Archbishop Murphy Beats Shorewood for Their Fourth Straight Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Archbishop Murphy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Shorewood Stormrays 8-7. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ari Dixon spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Murphy let Carly Madhavan and Sarah Fletcher run wild. Madhavan went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Fletcher went 2-for-6 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie Evans, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Archbishop Murphy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shorewood only managed six hits.

The win (which was Archbishop Murphy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. As for Shorewood, they moved to 8-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Archbishop Murphy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-2 victory against Shorecrest on the 11th. As for Shorewood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-1 loss against Edmonds-Woodway on the 14th.
