Stearns is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Penquis Valley on Wednesday as they made off with an 18-1 win. The Minutemen haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Tyler Morris and Owen Wilson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Morris tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wilson tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Morris went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Wilson went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Morris has snagged this season.
In other batting news, Lucas Pelkey was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Cohen Raymond was another key player, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Stearns was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lee Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Schenck 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pandas have posted against the Wolverines since May 10, 2022.
Lee Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Stearns, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
