Ponce De Leon has gone 7-0 against Marianna recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Ponce De Leon Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Marianna Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ponce De Leon has three straight victories, Marianna has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Ponce De Leon blew past Arnold, posting a 55-27 win. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 28 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-37, which was the final score in Marianna's tilt against Holmes County on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 28th).

Despite the defeat, Marianna saw an underclassman step up: freshman Dessiah Gee went 10 for 21 on her way to 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Shonna Mathis, who posted seven points and six boards.

Ponce De Leon pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Marianna, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Ponce De Leon strolled past Marianna in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 63-45. Does Ponce De Leon have another victory up their sleeve, or will Marianna turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
