Baseball Game Preview: River City Raiders vs. Sacramento Dragons

The River City Raiders will face off against the Sacramento Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. River City will be strutting in after a victory while Sacramento will be coming in after a defeat.

River City took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against River Valley by a score of 4-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Patrick Johnston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tanner Mayberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Carrington, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sacramento was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. Even though they lost, the Dragons' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Darius Jenkins was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Orlando Eaton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

River City's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Sacramento, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1.
