Basketball Recap: Cameron Roedl Key Part of Team Effort in Pirates Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Cumberland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 48-43 win over the Altamont Indians. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 48-35 victory the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2024.

Cumberland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Roedl, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 19 points and seven boards. That's the most points Roedl has posted since back in January. Zack Harmon was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Altamont's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kade Milleville, who had 12 points and eight boards. Milleville is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Parker Bell, who scored nine points and six rebounds.

Cumberland now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Altamont, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Cumberland will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cumberland will be up against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine's rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Altamont, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Vandalia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
