Baseball Recap: Caledonia Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Caledonia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Zumbrota-Mazeppa Cougars by a score of 8-4. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 4-0 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Tyson Ginther, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Caledonia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive games.

Caledonia pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caledonia will host Rushford-Peterson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against La Crescent at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
