Softball Recap: Southmont Mounties vs. Seeger Patriots
Southmont gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 16-3 margin over the Seeger Patriots.
Haley Scott was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also only allowed one walk). Scott was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Southmont got a massive performance out of Mallory Mason, who went 3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Anna Stokes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
On Seeger's side, Kaylyn Wheeler made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Coincidentally, Southmont and Seeger will both be playing South Putnam the next time they take the field. Seeger will head out to face South Putnam at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Southmont will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
