Baseball Recap: Red Bluff Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Red Bluff waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Wood Wildcats.

Ever Ovalle tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Red Bluff got a massive performance out of Ryan Ross, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave Ross a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Owens, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Red Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in nine consecutive contests.

Red Bluff's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
