Softball Recap: Cicero-North Syracuse Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Colonie Central, Cicero-North Syracuse was happy to have turned things around on Sunday. They blew past the Williamsville South Billies 17-2. Considering the Northstars have won five games by more than five runs this season, Sunday's blowout was nothing new.

Cicero-North Syracuse got a great performance from Kiyara Bembry as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Bembry has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mia Farone was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Coyle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Cicero-North Syracuse always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cicero-North Syracuse's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Williamsville South, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.

Cicero-North Syracuse and Williamsville South should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Northstars (ranked 17th) will meet Fayetteville-Manlius (ranked 93rd) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Williamsville South will square off against Hamburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (47 vs. 266).
