Basketball Recap: LaFayette Bulldogs vs. Valley Rams
It was a good run, but the LaFayette Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 67-48 bruising from Valley. LaFayette has struggled against the Rams recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, LaFayette got some senior leadership from Vaderrian Story and Branaviyun Story. Story scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Story. scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Thompson, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jay Harper, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harper has scored all season. Brandon Thomas was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
LaFayette's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6. As for Valley, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-1.
LaFayette will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wadley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Valley, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Handley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Rams are ranked 25th).
