Basketball Recap: Milton-Union Takes a Loss

Milton-Union has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They lost to the Northridge Polar Bears on the road by a 49-33 margin on Tuesday. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Milton-Union lost, don't look at Jenna Brumbaugh. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Brumbaugh is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Michaela Firks, who posted nine points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Milton-Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Milton-Union's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Northridge, they moved to 7-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Milton-Union and Northridge should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Milton-Union (ranked 109th) will meet Riverside (ranked 548th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Milton-Union is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. Similarly, Northridge (ranked 185th) will meet Lehman Catholic (ranked 575th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
