Baseball Recap: Sugar Valley Rural Takes a Loss

Sugar Valley Rural extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-8-1 in the process. They came up short against the Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights, falling 10-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in March.

Lincoln Breon was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Layden Bryan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Neumann Regional Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2. Considering they have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

On Neumann Regional Academy's side, Andrew Walter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walter was also big at the plate, earning two runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Clark Bower was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run. Maverick Dunkleburger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Sugar Valley Rural will take on rival Bucktail at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Neumann Regional Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Muncy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
